IActionable was founded by Jason Barnes and Ryan Elkins.
The story basically goes like this – Ryan played a lot of WoW (that’s World of Warcraft for you non gamers) and thought it would be really neat if you could earn achievements on other sites – being a developer he wondered what it would take to create an open platform that allowed a site to give it’s users achievements. Jason and Ryan talked about it and quickly deemed this to be “very hard”. They kept thinking about it though, and, like any good developers, began coming up with ways to make it work. It soon started taking up their nights and weekends.
In March of 2010 they presented what they had built so far at Launchup, thinking that if this doesn’t go well, they might have to rethink what they are doing with all their free time. Needless to say, it went well. In fact, it went very well. Having reaffirmed many a long night working on IActionable after a long day of coding at their “real jobs” they decided to see where they could go with this.
In May of 2010 they accepted a position in BoomStartup‘s inaugural launch. This means they quit their “real jobs” and work on IActionable full time.
